The job of school counselor assists students in successfully acquiring needed skills and knowledge; manages schedules and academic placement of students; collaborates with district staff, counsels with students and/or parents regarding academic and personal needs; facilitates district counseling curriculum; coordinates a variety of program related projects and/or program components e.g. testing schedules and program activities; monitors student academic progress to identify issues and taking appropriate actions; researches a variety of topics e.g. student achievement data, current practices, policies; supports district and building administrators; and performs other related duties as assigned.
